May. 19th, 2005 05:35 pm1) Total number of books owned?
lord. about 200? my room is basically bookshelves. when i get my own house, i'm so getting a library so i don't have to keep half my collection in cardboard boxes.
2) The last book I bought?
it's been awhile. um, probably not as crazy as i seem. (go having OCD!!!)
3) The last book I read?
i'm currently reading huckelberry finn for school, and spadework for fun, though i like them both. huck is about (as if you all don't already know) a kid and his adventures with a black slave down a river. spadework is about an actor and his wife, and it has a shitload of awesome subplots.
4) Five books that mean a lot to me?
Callahan's Con- Spider Robinson. this is actually the last in a series of about 10, but they can be understood seperatly. this one is new, but they started in the 70's, so most i got at used book stores. it's sci fi, without the sci. (as in, aliens, but not about their physiology, about their relationships to humans)
Go Jump in the Pool- Gordon Korman. i used to have a lot of nightmares, and whenever i woke up, i read it to laugh and fall back asleep in a good mood. juveile, yes, but important to my childhood.
speaker for the dead- orson scott card. i love olhado. when science and relationships, and abuse are mixed, it's like staci's personal book cocktail.
archers goon- diana wynn jones. i keep my books in mint condition, but this cover has creases. it follows me EVERYWHERE i travel. oh, feel the love of 7 siblings fighting for control of the town.
staying fat for sarah byrnes- Chris Crutcher. GO CRISPY PORK RINDS. seriously though folks, abuse, mental institutions, fat people, how could you go wrong?
those being singled out, i love everything that all those writers have written.
oh, and fransia lia block is such pretty meaningless writing. when i need a book of cotton candy, i read her stuff.
